Hi all, I've always been a big fan of the 7A28/38 series and over the years I've managed to acquire a few including the less common 'Alien' model and others. Recently I bought this 7A38-7140 in excellent condition and working perfectly. The price was the South African equivalent of $70 USD. I love it.

Hi, thanks, yes, the bracelet is the original that was fitted to this model. It has a simple folding clasp with the Seiko SQ insignia.

Other uncommon 7A28/7A38 models

Here are two more pictures of these amazing watches that I've been lucky enough to find over the years here in Cape Town. The 7A38-6020 has a cobbled up strap that looks awful but is functional. I'm on the lookout for the right S/S bracelet. The 7a28-7000 'Alien' is all original. Both watches are a bit scratched etc, but look a lot better in the flesh (and especially on a moving wrist!)

Not that rare actually. The last one to turn up on ebay was in Germany in September last year.
Sold for 196 Euros. Won by German collector Kurt who used to post on the old Network54 SCWF.

The problem we have in South Africa is the tragic exchange rate w.r.t. the USD, Euro etc. At the moment 1 Euro = 14.50 ZAR, so buying from international sites is sometimes prohibitive. However, the rare watches do turn up here quite frequently and I've been very lucky!

A couple of years back there was a SAAF issued 7A28-7040 FS on junkmail.co.za - in Gauteng, asking price 1500 Rand
