I happened to notice a nice looking diver on the wrist of a guy at my gym today. I commented on it and he said it had been through a lot and had numerous strap changes and the Pepsi bezel insert replaced with a black insert. Said he'd had it since his 21st birthday and he was now 52.

I didn't ask about the model number - a bit too watch nerd for the situation I think - but based on the dial and the fact he mentioned the watch guy who replaces his batteries, I think it was a 7548 from about 1983. I didn't feel I could try for a better look as he was otherwise naked at the time (I had to bring it up before he disappeared into the showers).

Cursing myself that I wasn't wearing my 6309 7040.

Should this thread have been titled the etiquette of nude watch talk?

In the wild sightings are part of the "hunt" and the hobby....I see quite a few interesting pieces...mostly Seiko quartz divers, but over the years I have come across tunas and 6309 diver's too.....!
