By that i mean do you know exactly how many you have ?

Do you know how many projects you have ?

Do you know how many projects you have that will always remain projects ?

I honestly don't know how many watches i have :( not because i have a vast amount but some are in cases, some in sets, some in project draws etc etc.

And to be honest IMO it is not something I am proud of :(

Why on earth would I want to know that? If I count them then I'll have to lie to the other half when she asks me how many I have and why do I need another?

If I genuinely don't know then I don't have to lie..... Given that she's a detective (yes really) then not lying is a good thing!

I tried to make a list in a thread a couple weeks ago. A few hours later, I was sitting on the couch and I realized there were two watches I hadn't listed. Then I remembered that I needed a few parts for a 6139 I have. Then I realized that I also have no real idea how many watches I have.

There are times when I'd like to simplify the collection and really have the watches that I "love." However, that task seems impossible when I think about the work I've put into some of them. Perhaps if I bought watches that were already 100%, it wouldn't be an issue to move on.
Ha! Great question.

NO I do not know exactly and not inclined to go around and count them up.

I have projects in all sorts of states of readiness that makes it hard to determine if it's wearable, in need of repair, or a total loss.

I'd have to open watch boxes, winders, parts drawers with near-complete and possibly running watches, parts trays, boxes, etc.
Nope, not even going there........:)
No - no idea at all!
I know that I have 2x24 watch boxes and I am in a constant battle to fit the collection into them, but there are several other random boxes and drawers that contain the rest - the ones that need fixing, the ones I need to get round to selling, the ones that I'm not sure about etc - the total I have never counted - partly because I do not want to acknowledge the scale of the problem!
Unfortunately I know exactly how many I've got, and it's toooooooooo many.:57:

What he said.
2 many!
I was losing track, so I cataloged every watch, strap, part, book, tool & accessory.

Having 0 projects makes it easier - the rate that some of y'all roll watches in and out is beyond me.
I have way too many and way to many that are getting no wrist time

:iagree: So true. I was thinking about thinning the herd.

It's the thought that counts ! :72:
Of course, to many :72:
+1 stuck at customs.......:41:

Cheers,

I can't think about it  I'll have to get myself committed when the reality really dawns I'm a hoarder... :17:

So I'll keep living, happily denying I've got a problem :wee_hee:
Not got too many now after a concentrated selling spree....the one's I have left are the one's I really enjoy and feel ok about owning and wearing. Fortunately I reined myself in before it all got to far out of hand for my brain to cope with lol

I have yet to catalogue my modest parts hoard though! I keep putting that off for some reason :undecided:
7.... Must try harder.

Strongly believe the optimum number of watches is similar to bikes.

n+1, where n = current number owned.

I love the scientific approach :)
84 running watches that can (and should) be worn. Of course, I'm no longer married, lol. I have several 'parts' watches in my parts/spares drawer, but I don't count those. I'm perpetually trying to get down to about 50, but that never seems to work out....

+1 Exactly my thought. Why would I want to know that? Knowing I have a problem is the first step in fixing my problem. But I don't have a problem so I don't need to fix my problem. I can stop anytime I want to. Right after I get a Bellmatic.
