Re: Differences between the 6215-7000 and 6159-70001?
I am no expert, so I can only relate my experience in restoring my 6215-7000.
Although these two watches look almost identical to a casual observer, they are significantly different. These differences caused me a certain amount of frustration in my restoration efforts, as I was hoping that parts would be interchangeable, since 6159 parts are more readily available.
Firstly, the crystals, crystal seals and chapter rings are dimensionally different and non-compatible. The bezel inserts are different - the 6215 has a "count-down" bezel. The split stems are incompatible for fit into the movement, and stem diameters also differ, causing the crowns to be incompatible.
Both movements are higher-grade 35-jewel movements, but the 6215 is a "low-beat" (18 000 bph) movement, whereas the 6159 is a "high-beat" (36 000 bph AFAIK?) movement. These movement differences cause the dials to be incompatible, as the writing on the dials are different.
I can't comment on the rest of the differences, as this was the extent of my experience.
Hope this helps!
