He has one for the 4420-9990 that might be the same, it lists the 55W45E, which I believe is 5.5mm diameter, which is close to the 5.4mm this review states: http://wornandwound.com/affordable-vintage-king-seiko-44-9990-44ks-rules/

BigV86 can probably verify if the 55W45E has the correct "W Seiko" logo.

Interestingly that's the same as for the GS 43999 and 5722-9990/1. There are actually two different crowns with the same part number. One fine knurled, and the other (earlier) coarse knurled.

Not sure which would be correct for the KS.

Upon doing some more research. Without any documented prove or anything, it seems like 55w32n have the correct look compared to the crown on the 44-9990. Though, I'm not 100% certain on this especially on the dimensions, it just looks correct.

 

So the information from the book (1970 casing part catalig) is wrong or typo error.. [emoji16]

Hi guys, I’m looking for the correct crown for my KS 44-999 too. Most of the ones I’ve seen comes with the coarse knurled crown (part no. 55w32ns) as compared to the fine knurled crown (part no. 55w31ns). I’m leaning towards getting the coarse knurled version but that would make the info in the seiko case parts catalogue not correct as kulitjerukbali has mentioned. Strange. Can anyone else shed some light?? TIA.
