Quick Q, before I make a stupid and expensive mistake....

Is it OK to put a vintage bezel complete with original insert into an ultrasonic cleaner? With hot water and washing up liquid? If not, what's the best safe way to clean it?

Ta, Sam.

I do it all the while Sam and have never had a problem apart from it can loosen the bezel pip which is no great problem (imo).

Preferring not to make more work for myself than I already have, I don't soak the lume pip. Not only can it knock out the plastic lens, ultrasonic action coupled with chemical solutions and heat can poorly affect the luminous material behind the lens, which is not always perfectly sealed. Holding the bezel by the pip area just over the top surface of the solution is one method of protecting the pip, and cleaning will be sufficient if the ultrasonic/solution/heat combo is strong enough.

I would never ultra a complete bezel. If it's not bad enough for the bezel and insert to require separation then I use a soft bristled brush and warm soapy water to clean everything gently - not scratching the insert.

I only ever ultra the bezel component without the insert.

Better to be safe than sorry, pip wise.
