I like mine. I've had no issues with the crown. In my experience, the crown is the usually first thing to wear-out on a watch. I've been through the hassle of getting a crown replaced on a Swiss watch. So, I make a point of using the crown as little as possible. I'll set one of my autos and wear it daily until it's at least a minute off. Then I might switch to a different watch or just reset it and keep going. If I know a watch tends to lose several seconds per day, I'll set it a minute fast and wear it until it's a minute slow.
My only complaint about this Promaster is that I wish it was bigger. And I don't mean a just a bigger case. The dial is kinda small and the day/date is kinda small. The white numbers on a black wheel look cool, but I think black numbers on a while dial are easier to read. As it is, I can read it just fine in a well-lit office, but I have trouble reading the date if the area is poorly lit or if the sun is causing some glare, like while I'm driving.
