I think this was bought in 1972 by my parents in Singapore, and given to me as a present.
A seiko 5, Serial 473646, 6119 6410, stainless steel, water resistant, Japan U.
Vitually never wear it, but it still seems to work fine.

I thought the 4 on the serial number was the year. Does this mean it was really made in 1964? Or is my recllection wrong?

Is it an uncommon survivor?

What a beautiful dial on that one!

The serial number dates it to July 1974. If it had been a sixties production date, it would've said water proof, not water resistant. That change happened around 1970.
Thanks. Good to know. My father died in 1973 so it must have been a present from my mother when she went back to Singapore a couple of years later.
