Can anyone tell me about my seiko?

I have a Seiko Quartz watch with the following numbers: serial number 272052 and the numbers 6923-7000 with A1 in a square. It has never worked. Is it battery or automatic?

If the watch is labeled "Quartz" on the dial it has a battery powered movement.

The serial number dates your watch to 1982.

What he said.:)

You will need to take the case back off to see if it has a battery fitted. If it has and it hasn't leaked, it may be a matter of just getting a new battery fitted. If it has leaked............:(
Many thanks. I will take it to a jewellers as it says it is water resistant. Does it have model name?
6923 is the movement # 7000 the case #. That's it...not popular enough to get a nickname.

I don't think it has a model name as it's just a bog standard dress watch.

Water resistance in a watch this old is probably zero. Just keep it away from water. Full stop (or Period, if you're the other side of the pond). The rubber seal will probably come away when the back is taken off, if it has been on a long time, and may need to be replaced.
Model number will be SPD061 or 062/063/064/065
Thank you all again. Very helpful.
