Yet another piece of carp from Fara-UK:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Seiko-Pogue-Pepsi-6139-6000-Excellent-Vintage-Chronograph/264650547146

It has a “Proof” dial, a no-notch case, one of those sketchy-looking June 1969 “waterproof” casebacks (which I am beginning to think are being cranked out in a factory someplace), and a 6139B movement.

There are probably lots of authentic Seiko parts here, just not very many that belong together. At least it’s not very shiny, so maybe it won’t sell.

UPDATE: Looks like someone coughed up 500 GBP for that turd. Sheesh.

500, 600 GBP apiece ... pretty good work if you can get it. It is just me, or do those deeply-imprinted "proof" casebacks look completely bogus?
Yes, they look engraved, so totally fake. Seiko stamped the casebacks.

I notice the eBay fakers selling 6139-6000's with a fake Proof dial often have a fake engraved 'Proof' caseback with 1969 serial number and a notched case. I was wondering where they get the notch cases from? Are the cases fake too? Or do they just make a notch with a file? They don't bother with a 2 piece chrono hand.

It is embarrassing to me that most of this junk is peddled by UK based thieves. They obviously have a steady supply of fakes and fake parts coming into the UK to allow them to make a very good living out of flooding the market with this crap. They get great feedback too.

^ Would imagine that the cases are most likely fake too. Unlikely that they'd have a supply of original cases on hand

This isn’t a scam really but perhaps one of the most beat on 6139 gold dials I have seen. Lots of am parts but the seller isn’t misrepresenting it other than “it works well”. See: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/254525737125

I’d take exception to the description of this one as “rare” ... unless the seller meant to say that it’s as far as possible from well done <g>. I’ll consider just about any trashed-but-running 6139 as a possible parts donor, and even I would think twice about this thing.
