I've noticed that pictures uploaded from a hard drive and attached to posts only seem to appear if the OP is logged on. Is there a setting I need to change to remedy this?

That should not be happening. try hitting refresh. The pictures are hosted on site so they should show up no matter who uploaded them or when they are on site.

Okay, it's when I'm not logged in. Attached pictures don't show when just browsing the forum without being logged in. I can see the paper clip icon at the top of the post signifying there should be a picture, but the picture doesn't show.
When I log in I can see the attached picture.

yes that's correct. It's a security feature.
