As we head into December and year end what has been your best acquisition this year

Doesn't have to be your most expensive, cheapest, rarest, just the one that sticks in your mind most.

I have had one or two good pick-ups and a few rubbish ones but this package i picked up was imo this years best buy :)

How is the 62MAS coming along John?

All complete Sam, got a few NOS movement parts, dial/hands relumed by James, just got to put it all together sometime but there is one part I would like to change before I do but not been able to get one as yet, so no rush.
Thats a beauty Marty I can see why you love it :)

ps: Why is it that so many pictures you see of 6139s especially on eBay have one or more hands covering the "Proof" or "resist" text at the 9 o'clock position ? :)

Well, first of all I wasn't paying attention when I composed the shot. And Secondly I wanted to show the Kanji day wheel. :)

That watch happens to be proof/proof.
I didn't buy many watches this year but this one sticks in my mind most:

Seiko 600m Ashtray 7c46-6009

I'm hard pressed to decide between these two:

The Hamilton was bought from an old school friend. It belonged to her Grandfather and she wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it. I do !

The Seiko was bought as a work beater, but turned out to be in an unuseable condition. I gave it to Mike for spares but instead he repaired it. Now it's one of my favourites.

Value wise the Hamilton has the advantage, but the Sportsmatic is just soooooooooo nice and in fact was 1/5th of the price.

I would be pretty chuffed to own that as well :)
John, that would have to be the TST you did for me with the Yobokies dial, hands and bezel insert...

After my first couple of years I planned a lot less activity this year and bought much less in 2014, or at least I thought I had.
Turns out I gained over half a dozen but each are very pleasing, to me at least.
1st up were 3 (got 6 now) of the op's (TheTigerUK) TST's
6309 based

SKX007 based

and my heat treated / blued cased 7002 based one

Then I came across a 6139-7030 at a boot fair that was only £5, it needed a service and a crystal and I've never photo'd it but worth a mention considering the price and originality of the piece.
Then I found a nice Rally diver, again needing the same as above.

Then the last two, both needing much work but luckily together they stand me in at less than either of them often seem to sell for these days.
6138-0011 & 6138-0030.
All of these only came together with the help, guidance, skills and generosity of both John-TheTigerUK and Mike-pollyc from this forum aided with parts from other members such as Stefan-seikochrono (e-bayerist schillachi61) & Tom- thickman808 web sales www.hickman-watches.com plus Cousins of course.

So best acquisition? All of them.

My best pickup was probably the Daini 62Mas. A definite lifetime keeper:

This one......

I hit the big 5-0 this year, still struggling to come to terms with it but the other half came through in major way with this one. I wasn't 100% convinced to start with but the addition of a heavier bracelet has made all the difference to the balance of the watch and now it's perfect.

I don't wear the same watch for more than a day normally but this one is different, it's been on my wrist for a while now with only a change for a short period of time.

Sent via t'interweb thingy using magic n stuff....
