I've stumbled on a few of these online, but there is next to no information on these watches... Were they all made in the 1980's? Was it a continuation of the mechanical world times from previous decades? Was it a cheap / budget version?

Curious if anyone here knows more about these, like what years they were produced, how the city ring works (no GMT hand?), etc.

These seem to be models 7009-8860 or 7009-886A.

It looks like they consolidated the cities into a 12 hour layout, with the inner ring being one 12-hour period and the outer ring the other. My guess is then you rotate the bezel to line up with the hour hand, and your current city to then read the times across the other cities as a 12 hour AM/PM kind of thing.

They seem like "cheap" or at least less sophisticated versions of the 6117 and 6217, but I have not seen one in the steel. Perhaps this is where the mechanical World times went after the 6117? My current/previous assumption was we moved to LCD/Digital with the m158 and a239 models.
