I've had good pre-sale contact with a seller there who is a moderator of that forum too and he has provided pictures and video specifically on what I asked about. I'm inclined to trust him. The watch is not a high-value piece (I hope to negotiate to around $100) but hard-ish to find, so I've cast my net wide. Has anyone had experience of buying from there as a buyer outside Asia, e.g. in Europe or the US?

I've bought many a part and an occasional watch from the Philippians.

I seldom choose that route now due to shipping to the US that takes 4 to 6 weeks and that was before Covid-19.

Good to know that the human element worked out even if the wait time was offputting. Thanks for replying. I'll post on how it went if I make the deal.

My only advice would be a lot of watches coming out of that part of the world can suffer from corrosion because of the humidity make sure you have good pictures of the case.
Cheers Paul
