Another old diver saved from the draw, by Pete K

Well, Pete K from Australia did this old girl proud. We could have waited till a NOS white face came up for sale, but i like the warm fell and patina the old tarnished dial gives the watch. The chunky crown with its heavy ribbing gives a purposeful fell and look, so the only strap I felt would do, was this Rally strap with a deployments clasp. May not be perfect but i'm in for some happy days wearing this one :)

8) i like how the aging came along on this one.

Its aging well like fine wine. Looks good on the rally strap too.

yep the tarnish is even and almost looks like it's a factory finish, to good to let go ;D
I've never really cared for this dial in its pristine factory white but this is just beautiful. Like a mellow sunset after a torrential tropical storm (we get a lot of that in Florida). I am rarely envious of others time pieces but in this case I'll make an exception.

Thank you, I feel honoured to be its next custodian and i have to agree the factory whit is a little stark ;D I just love your description, may i use it?
I think it is just gorgeous- the patina on the dial gives is a very beautiful sort of glow and I think your choice of strap couldn't be beat and will look even better as it ages a bit. A fellow I often sit next to at spin class at the gym wears a fabulous looking Rolex GMT with a faded sort of copper looking bezel- this is this guy's gym watch- I wonder what he wears for dress occassions?- anyway, I think it is the most beautiful watch I've ever seen- something about the patina. To me, yours is in that class- congratulations.
Beautiful! And the strap is a perfect match. Congrats on this nicely restored vintage. Do you have a picture of the case back?
Cheers,
This is Absolutely the Best example OF WABI SABI I have ever seen. Rather then Chips missing or deep scratches all be that Fine and also nice in some cases,

to each his own, but seeing this, and some of the Definitions I have read here over the years OF Wabi "This beauty of Aging The Perfection of imperfection it,s Character

just the Story of it's life, very Special and I agree, this looks better then the most Minty Dial, and I do Like Minty dials and most watches in all conditions

I think you get my point it is Beautiful I am sure Pete loved working on this Beauty. As I write I am wearing 7123-8200 Silverwave Z

That I just got back from Pete , he Rebuilt her Movement , and first time since I bought her, she is Ticking away. The artist of "Time" drew a masterpiece on your Dial

The Vintage Silverwaves are Special, but so far none IMHO, more Beautiful then Yours

Wear her in good health A treat to see Thanks

Brilliant "patina"!
Congrats, a very nice watch.

But; I'd go with a different strap, that does not take away too much attention from the watch itself.
Instead of a Rallye I'd go for a Racing (I mean one with plenty small holes like a perforation - as the two names are often mixed) in simple black or dark brown without contrast stitching.
As an alternative, if it does not have to be leather, I could easily imagine a nice tropic.

In the end it's personal taste and if you love the combination you have, it's more than fine. I wanted just to bring in my thoughts, as the watch alone is stunning!

Cheers,

Axel

That stray and the watch were made for each other! Perfect combination! Daaaaroooooool . . . Daaaroooooooool!
That looks superb Rod, I just love the look of that model, great dial, GREAT hands and yours with that "aged" dial is really nice, superb :)
Beautiful watch. Beautiful dial, like a perfectly toasted marshmallow. Love it. Great strap choice too.
