Hi all.
New to the forum, long time seiko wearer. Had a couple of entry level pieces as a kid. Then picked up an SKX007 when I was living in Australia a few years back.
Joined this forum for info and chat about my new piece: 1982 7a28-701L JDM Seiko Speedmaster.
I have little idea of the background (aside from having it shipped from Japan) so probably will be asking for advice on a base service/inspection. I assume there are vintage quartz specialists to be found here?

That's a nice one. There's a lot of love on these forums for vintage quartz and especially the Seiko 7a movements. They're pretty robust, but any 40-year-old watch will need some attention. The first thing I would recommend, after installing a fresh battery, is to replace the crown, pusher and caseback seals. The pusher seals are notorious for hardening and shrinking up, thereby allowing moisture to enter the case, to the detriment of the pusher contact springs on the movement plate.

For better or worse I decided to look inside… pleased with what I see - super clean. No suggestion of rust and perhaps a service as recently as 7 years ago 🤣🤣
Needs a new battery and gaskets.
Still loving this piece.
