Last Friday: We were discussing OM's at one of our local watch forums here in the Philippines and one member was kind enough to give a heads up on an OM for sale at our local version of Craigs list for less than 100 USD. The OM has been on my wishlist for the longest time so I immediately grabbed this chance. I sent an SMS to the seller to ask if it was still available. When he said yes, I then excitedly asked for his final price. I was blown away by his reply that I could have his OM on steel bracelel for about 87 USD. I pounced immediately. We met up the next day and it was indeed the genuine article and a very good specimen. jackpot! Earlier today: As if my good watch karma was not yet enough, on my way home, i spied a spot of orange displayed at one of the corner watchsmiths near my home. I investigated further and was pleasantly surprised to find this nice skx011J. He wouldn't budge at 56 USD and argued that it had all original dial and hands except maybe for the bezel insert which he claimed was probably a replacement. I didn't push any further and just pounced right away. It has been on my wrist ever since and I just cant stop staring at the insert. Despite the watchsmith's claims to the contrary, I am starting to believe that the insert is original the longer i stare at it. There's something about the way the indices catch the light, it still looks flat and not shiny at all like a replacement. I apologize for my crappy celphone pic but can you guys tell if it is a faded original or a replacement just as the wathsmith said? either way, it would make no difference on my appreciation of the watch, I just want to find out.
