It's good to have friends. I've been friends with @boostchrono for a number of years now. And even though we live on opposite sides of the country, we text and talk regularly. We've traded and swapped watch parts back and forth. We've helped each other on quite a few Seiko watch projects. A watch of my friends I've particularly admired was his 6138-8000 Black Baby Panda. My friend spends a lot more time than I do on the net looking for watch treasures. He came across a rough and incomplete 8000 hulk for under $300. Knowing I really liked his 8000, he picked it up and graciously offered it to me. The focus of my Seiko collection is the 6138's and I had a couple duplicates so I readily sacrificed the movement from a rough but working 6138-3000 for the 8000. Here is the end result. Since I got the completed/restored watch back, it hasn't left my wrist. Again, thank you my friend, I owe you.
This last picture shows the 8000 with my frankenwatch 6138-8001 with a 8020 dial. (it drops right in)
