Hi,
I have given some TLC to a few Seiko's that I bought some time ago, and took some pictures to share with you all:

A couple of Seiko 5 Sports 6319-8070 with their original bracelets

The 6319 movement is a small step up from the reliable 6309 that powers the venerable 6309-7040, basically the same movement with 4 more jewels.

A 6300 (same series movement, but hand wind only). Blue, simple, reliable, lightweight).

Next to it, basically the same Seiko looks but in quartz, a SQ 7546-8369 in metallic blue. Both watches were manufactured in 1978.

The 7546 movement was the standard 4 jewel +/- 15s/month Seiko quartz movement at the time. It's as robust as they come.

And an older cousin to all the above, a venerable hand wind 66 movement powering a 66-7439 manufactured in ... 1964!

The dial:

All the above keep perfect time. :)

Hi,
The screw-in back still has the protective and QC stickers:

Are you trying to confuse me Andrew ? is that the correct case back ? 1964 would be a water proof not resistant, mind i am easily confused lol
I have no idea, actually, but that's the case back it came with. Our expert in such cases (and case backs - ha!) would be Martin. ;)

Andrew: That 66 is a beaut (may be a 1974, although I had one with a similar dial from the late '60s). However, your pair of 6319s is a treasure. I hope you keep and wear them. The bronze watch in particular brings to mind a now mostly forgotten aesthetic. Thanks for showing them.

I count at least 4 different types of finish to those blue dials, which I think Seiko was masterful at creating. Thanks for showing some pieces not seen every day, I would have pegged the first two for 6106/6119's - I didn't know that style was used later on with the 6319 movement too.

Because of the "water resistant" on the case back, I'd say that 66-based watch is from 1974, though it looks like it was made last month! Really nice condition on all of those.

It does not look like a 1964 caseback (most of these had the animals or sometimes the simpler circular print) and 1974 would be very late for a 66 caliber (but perhaps not impossible as the dial design is very much late 60s / early 70s). If I had to guess, this would be a 1968-70 watch.

Interesting watches, I was just reading about the controversial 6319-7040 diver yesterday!

BTW - I am constantly sniffing out 1964 Seikos for my collection, and I would agree with the other posters that you probably have a very nice 1974 cal 66 there, rather than a 1964 ditto!

Andrew, love those blue dials, the last one in particular.

I like that padded blue fabric (or fabric effect) strap, do you remember where did you found it or who makes it?

Hi Mark,
That strap is made by Atlantic. It has leather on the inside face and tough nylon fabric on the outside. Kind of looks durable to me. ;)

I just picked up the same two listed by the OP on El Flayo - 6319's, running, rough, but I'll be interested to see if I can bring 'em back to like condition! >:D
