Dear All,
I had an question for which I was hoping to get some assistance from the knowledgeable on this forum. My watchmaker is restoring a 62 MAS which is missing a date ring. Will any other more easily available calibre date ring, be a correct fit for this calibre? Any assistance will be of great value.

I think you will find it is pretty unique to the 62mas, I picked one up from Stefan/Seikochrono.

Many of the 62xx family of movements could be potential sources of replacement date dials as long as they come from cases with the crown at 3. I think the part number is 0801870 and is common to 6205, 6206, 6217, 6220, 6222 as well as a few of the earlier incarnations of the 62xx familiy such as the 395. Just look for cheap 6205's on Ebay with crown at 3 and you will have effectively a complete spare movement from which to farm parts as required.

6205's are a pretty safe bet as most selfdaters had a three o'clock crown, 6206's mostly came with the 4 o'clock crown. If you see any M88 sealion 6206's they have a square case and a 3 o'clock crown. Good luck, there are plenty cheapies out there and if you're lucky you'll find one with a good balance, clutch and date corrector too, three of the most wear prone components.

If Stefan (seikochrono) cannot supply you with these I brought a nos one recently and can put you onto the guy who supplied mine. It was the same date wheel out of the 6205/6. I know he had another 4 or 5 when I got mine a couple of months ago.

No I doubt it as it is a 4 o'clock winder on the Worldtime. Must be a 3 o'clock winder. I actually brought this watch to scrap it for the date wheel for my 62MAS that Tom Hickman was restoring:



but when it arrived from Speedtimerkollection it was too good to scrap! I just couldn't bring myself to do it so I found some NOS items from a guy in Saudi for about £10GBP instead.
