Hi all,
I was just looking at a recent purchase in slightly more detail(6139-6002 from ‘76) and saw that the crystal is domed. I placed a flat rule across the top and it was very slightly domed. I was under the impression that the later models were fitted with flat top crystals? It looks to be to be original, although I suppose it could have been replaced with an earlier one back in the day. Any idea on this or am I misinformed?

The early ones are domed up until roughly late 72' to early 73'. The late ones, 73' + up are flat. The only answer to you question is that it has been replaced at some point. There are still lots of early domed nos crystals floating about.

The 1st style Seiko crystal packaging may contain a domed or flat style crystal.

The later 2nd style packaging, in my experience, has always contained the Flat style crystals.

Ah I see Thankyou seikopsycho, it must have been a period replacement with early crystal stock. I think it deserves a NOS one to finish it off.
