Hi all,

I picked up a 6138-0030 for a decent price recently on our favorite auction site. Looks like she only needs a crystal. Here's the question...what's the deal with the bracelet? It has a sliding spring loaded piece.

Thanks!
Mike

That would be an extension that was inserted to lengthen the bracelet in the absence of additional links.

I have had to do that to a good number of vintage bracelets in order to wear them.

Thanks guys...I think yes it is an extension for wetsuits. I saw a pic of another one on here from 2011. The clasp, btw, says "speed timer" and seems to be original.

As Gordon has already said - it's an extension piece, not a diver's extension.
It's designed to retain the original clasp and extend the bracelet.
Non original.

Thanks! It integrates well...did Seiko make these pieces and simply sell as an accessory?

Thanks again!

I am of the view its a standard fitment to the Speedtimer bracelet, I have one on a 6139-8050. If you remove the 'extension' the bracelet end will not fit the clasp, it is too narrow.

These are quite neat providing a snug fit with a little give.

Then I stand corrected Mike, first time I ever saw one.
