The 6119-605x 5 Sports "regatta" or "rally" are definitely among my favorite Seiko designs.

I am fortunate enough to have a couple in my possession, and there are pretty much identical but for the following:

The 6119-6050 dates from Feb. 69
The 6119-6053 dates from Nov. 69

The 6050 has very grey or 'matt' hands, and this seems to be common and normal. It also has the "bubble back" caseback.

The 6053 has shinier hands, more like you'd see on 6139s and a regular-style caseback.

Note: 6050 has an aftermarket bracelet, 6053 probably too.

After doing some searches, I'm pretty sure the 6050 handset is pretty much original and authentic, but I have questions whether the hands on the 6053 were replaced at some point?

However, I've noticed other pics of 6053s do have these shiny hands, so maybe Seiko switched them out as the watches may have been for different markets?

Anyway, would love to know if anyone noticed something similar with their 6119-605x variants. It might be helpful for anyone trying to hunt down one of these (they came with blue, silver, and black dials, I believe) to ensure they get one with an original handset!

My photos are probably not the greatest, but hopefully they show the subtle differences in the hands.

Early hand sets were frosted on the 6139's up until about July 69' then were changed to shiny.

Early 6119A movements used the stepped case back and the later 6119B + C movements used the rounded case back. If you remove case backs you'll also notice the movement ring used with the stepped case back has no spring.

I have 3 or 4 of these but am away from them for a little while. I’ll check mine when I get back to where they are.
