Anyone ever try and successfully fit this mov't into a more modern diver case (e.g. SKX173 etc.)? I vaguely recall reading that this mov't is a straight drop into the 6105-811X diver case. Any other divers that this mov't will fit into?

TIA.

transplanting a 6117 movt. into a 6309 case.

Hi John,
That post is actually phase two if you will- modifying a 6309 movement (inside a 6309 case) to have an extra 24 hour hand. Phase one (installing a 6117A movement in a 6309-7290 case) is mentioned in that post, however briefly, with this link:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/78440/thread/1236312775/My+new+Sei-Master+GMT++(or+a+tale+of+2+Noahs)

Perhaps it had to do with it being a 6117A, but there were definite differences in the setting parts' dimensions that required making a different male portion of the 6309 stem, and modifying the female portion on a lathe. I've seen others say that the 6117 is a drop-in fit for the 6309 diver's , but this is not the case in my experience. This was the seed of the idea of using a 6309 movement with 24 hour hand instead of trying to fit a 6117 movement- to have a more reliable fitment of the stem and crown, as well as all other casing dimensions, by using a 6309 movement in it's intended case. Here is just a portion of the work for the 6117 transplant for those curious- a longer male stem portion was fabricated, shown in blue steel below a standard part for comparison. Second photo is what I started with.

Thank you, Noah, for the clarification. I should have read the complete post before jumping the gun :( . No matter, it's a great mod and no less unique.
