About 7 years ago I was able to pick up a 6105 case, back and crystal as a thanks for helping out another member here..I put in a movement I had which did hack as well as the original 6105 dial and added my screw down crown so I could swim with this classic..., but the movement had no date wheel...so I made a "fake" 3 o'clock indice for the dial so there was no date window showing...and wore the watch for years...can anyone suggest another movement for the case/dial which is easy to obtain on the "bay...???

Hi well any 6309 movement will fit and easy to obtain, or a quartz 7546 whic are also fairly easy to obtain but why not just fit a date wheel to your 6105 movement ?

You say you have a screw down crown !! are you sure because the 6105 does not have a screw down crown just one that locks.

ps: Assuming you are talking about a 6105-811X

6106,6119,6619,etc. These will all drop into the 6105 case, however, you will have to take into account the the quickset date feature of these movements.

6309,6308,6319 can be used however, crown at four position is preferable so date wheel modifications are not an issue. 7548 and 7546 quartz also drop in.

I have'nt figured out how to put the pics. on yet but I've got a 6105 dial that has been mod. for the d/d window,in a 6309-7049 case and a 7548 set of works and loving it. my sister cindy has a picture of it.

Tiger...the screw down detail is what I have done in the past by putting an aftermarket Trip-lock screwdown crown in the case and sealing it with a metallic epoxy commonly known as JB Weld...I had to drill out the original crown tube and fit in the aftermarket crown threaded section into the case and keep the crown centered perfectly...
The only problem was using the Swiss screw thread female stem of the screwdown crown with the Asian male stem of the 6119 movment...I wound up filing the stem to a point and making it screw into the female portion of the screwdown crown, then sealing it with Superglue...between the JB Weld seal and the screwdown crown detail, I have worn this watch in hot tubs , saunas and Caribbean dive sites for years with ZERO sealing issues...always wanted to wear a 6105 while diving with no worries about leaks!!!!

I want to bring this thread back up to see if we can discuss the trip lock conversions in more detail. This is a topic I am currently researching and very interested in. Maybe I get lucky here and others decide to elaborate on this trip lock conversion. New ground for me.

One "problem" that comes to mind for me with the triplock conversion is that on the ones i have seen the original crown isent used which for me sort of spoils the conversion.

Talking to a guy a while ago he said if you have the machinery the conversion is easy, quick and cheap.
