First time post:

I have a new (to me) acquisition of a Seiko Kinetic diver with the 5M62 movement. The power indicator (PI) button is either partially or completely stuck. The watch may also need to have the battery/capacitor replaced.

My question is this: the power indicator button actually has a knurled ring on it. What is the purpose of the knurled ring? I was under the impression that the PI button is NOT locked down by the knurled ring, which doesn't appear to be able to move.

Am I mistaken and the knurled ring locks down the PI button? Or is the knurled ring for some other purpose?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you have to look for a manual for this particular watch to find out if the knurled rings can be locked. Seen some models with that ring . Like the Seiko Sportura
