Several weeks ago I purchased a 7006-7079 Seiko 17 jewel automatic watch. As this is the first time I have had an automatic watch I am wondering just how long these watches can normally remain sitting still before they stop. If I take this watch off at night by morning it has stopped running, after about eight hours of non use. Is this about normal? Thanks for any info.

HI there. No that's not normal at all. Most modern watches will run for about 40 hours from fully wound, older watches somewhat less. All, as long as the movement is in good working condition, should run for more than eight.

Sounds like it's time for a service! I just got my 6309-7029 back from Spencer Klein and he tested the reserve after his full and complete service and the watch lasted 47.5 hours.

He's top notch and his automatics run dead on after he's finished with them.
