Update: 3 days in and I still have no idea how to open the case. The one watchmaker in town whom I'd trust to try it is on vacation.
Thank you for the kind compliments. The disco vibe is strong - it would be like having an extra disco ball on my wrist. Or I could walk back stage at a Sammy Davis Jr. concert without even having to show a pass.

Looks like the case back is pressed on, and there is easy access to change the battery. A case knife should open it.

What a watch. Is the case and bracelet solid gold? I was surprised to see it's only 100g, but maybe because it is also small.

As for the caseback, maybe you have to remove the battery compartment first and then try to remove the case back? Just an idea.

I had the same thought …
