All I can think is, "Oh Captain, my Captain!" . . . On a much lighter tone than the original, of course!

That's a fantastic mod! I think you've given a lot of people around here a great idea for a project.

Enjoy it in good health!! again!

My Dearest Seiko Comrades,

Thank you so much for your very kind words.

Dear Feca67, both SKX173 and 007 have same 7S26 movements, and the case is identical. The only difference is the dial, AFAIK. I purchased SKX173 first, and ordered the olive green dial later. It was not easy to find a new dial for this mod project. Because I love the hands set of SKX173 model, particularly the lume on the longer end, I preferred SKX173.

Dear SeakoFreako, thenk you very much for your very kind words.

Dear deerworrier and Tiger John, thank you very much for your very kind words.

Dear SKX, I strongly recommend you to go for it. You will love it, for sure!

Here is the "before" foto of the SKX173 when I first received it:

And here is the olive green military dial I used on this project:

And here are some more fotos taken with my Panasonic Lumix:

Some more lume fotos; the first one is blinding bright! :

Thank you all very much for sharing my happiness, very best regards . . .

Nice work - great result. Excellent strap choice, where did you find it? Out of interest, is there any difference between an SKX007 and an SKX173 other than the dial design?

Captain S, it looks like a genuine military issue piece, I wouldn't have thought olive drab could look so bloody nice, excellent job my friend.

Finally, I Created This Beauty . . .

<blockquote>Dear Comrades,

You know the story: After giving my beloved and super accurate (-1 second total in 5 weeks!) military modded SKX173 to a very good co-worker of mine, I began searching another piece with no success.

Then I decided to mod one by myself by getting a SKX173 first, then that amazing olive green military dial and finally sweep the dials.

But the base Seiko, SKX173, was in pristine condition and I didn't want to butcher this beauty. I got my Japanese watchmaker do it.

And here is the results: (I apologize for the blurry night fotos taken by my cell phone)

The lume is extremely bright:

This tone of green (Olive) is really an eye catcher!:

Enjoy the fotos. I will post more and better fotos after getting home.

Very best regards . . .
