aikidosan Received my H851 Arnie from another member today and it’s killer! Had the original when I was in the 101st Airborne and am very happy to be reacquainted.
So, First thing I did was go over the entire watch head with a x10 loupe to see the differences up close and found something interesting that I suspected but had to prove. The 2 side pushers DO NOT have visible o-rings when the crowns are loosened. The black rings are actually shiny black paint. I think they should maybe be red to flash a warning to the wearer that they’re unscrewed as represented in some other watches I’ve seen but I can definitely live with how they are now. Anyways, short of tearing the watch apart I can only suspect that they are somewhat assembled and operate the same as the original. I believe that the crowns just prevent the pushers from being inadvertently pressed when under water and allowing it to infiltrate the case internals. With that said I don’t think that Seiko would expect every single owner to always remember to tighten the crowns before submerging. Instead, the crowns are just an added security measure. There has to be someone out there that’s pushed the pushers while under water at one time or another on either the original or the reissue??
That’s it for now as I’m off to purchase a 5 ring nato to complete my personalization of a bitchin watch :-)

Thanks for the illumination shot, looks pretty bright but numbers are too small for my eyes.

Only let down really looking at this from a
modern perspective is the single

really crappy and cheap. apart from E]

Nice watch.

camrok Has anyone found a decent metal bracelet match as yet? I was thinking shark mesh or with a solid straight end link?
08-25-2019 07:50 AM
lewie Not sure if anyone has mentioned this - I’ve sort of not bonded with mine so popped it back in the box
Opened it up today and it goes into a power saver where (I think) the digital goes blank and the hands stop
It wizzed around to the correct time and the display lit up- pretty cool

Anyone here have some thoughts about bracelet choices?

It showed up today! I was convinced that the strap was going to be typically unpleasant, but it's not so bad. (It's softer than I thought it'd be, and manages to stay in-place when worn somewhat loose above the wrist bones. Typical of Seiko straps for me, the holes are never in the right spot to give me the fit I like -- I'm forever between too darn tight and loose enough to spin.) I'll be on the look out for a matte PVD bracelet, I think. Polished steel isn't going to work, by the look of it. Brushed will clash with the crown, pushers and lugs.

Very pleased overall.

One niggle is that the second hand does not tick to the indexes. I went through the handset recalibration procedure (which is supposed to re-align them, and while hour and minute hands improved, seconds did not. If there's some mojo I'm missing, please kindly advise.

Throwin' up a picture in case anyone's curious.
Happy Saturday, friends.

Thesharkman was stuck on wanting to look at the golden arnie never having thought to look on epay (doh). after looking at the pics on epay, i'm going with the snj025 (normal) arnie. missed out on the macy's 15% off for the -025, but no worries as there are deals to be found.

i just saw that i (we) missed out on an independent seller with brick and mortar store was selling these thing at 25% off! i found that out on a rolex forum of all places. ugh.
good luck in the hunt!

Grammarofdesign Tell us about the rubber strap please.

Gold one is very cool. Wonder what color indicator is on the black pushers.

I could have gone either way between that and the classic black and silver color scheme. Would have been difficult even if the gold one had also been available.
Same as with the solar tunas, like both color schemes.
