Obviously its not a direct SKX replacement for the basic reasons that have been mentioned before... However give the more than obvious clone look, and timing, it can be considered a close substitute for those who are looking for one. |

I took the plunge just to experience what it is. They have some fine lookers and some seriously odd stuff among the 27 choices. No screw down crown is fine for me even if it got pulled and goes underwater shouldn't the seal hold in a shower or pool? I'll check out the crown sealing design when it finally arrives. |

Then a lot of people assumed that these were the SKX replacement, and no one from Seiko has refuted this assumption. |

Sorry if I’ve missed it somewhere but where is the official info that says this is a replacement for the SKX? The SKX is a good value, serious diver’s tool watch that meets ISO requirements for its intended purpose. This new Seiko 5 is for the desk diver that wants the modded skx on a budget. It’s more of a new Seiko sea urchin than a new skx. IMO there has to be a new proper SKX coming, the market for the SKX has been huge for the good value ISO divers watch market. Seiko wouldn’t just ditch that market. Exactly! |

I read the site TOS and didn't see a rule against posting my own video here. Mods, please remove if it's not allowed. I recorded a discussion of why I don't think Seiko intends this new Seiko 5 series to be the SKX replacement and what I think the SKX replacement will be like. It's kind of longwinded, but hopefully some of you will find it interesting. I'm new to the video making process and would appreciate any feedback for improvement. I'm doing this for fun, not to make money. Thanks! |

Well, there are already skx ‘homages’ being sold around ebay, for example, by a couple of Chinese companies. Most of which sell homages of other famous seiko models like 6105, MM300, SRP turltles etc. unfortunately it’s nothing new. Regarding fakes specifically though, there are also a few running about ebay (once again) that’s should be cause for concern. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The pic I was going to post, was almost identical to the watch you have posted, "except" it didn't have, the slanted "S", however I cant remember where on Ebay, I saw it. If Seiko is going to sell these unbranded watches (and they have every right too), then it is as plain as night follows day, that fakers, modders and replica merchants will (wake-up) and exploit that opportunity, jump on the band wagon and use every make, model & part that Seiko has available. Give it a month or two, you wont be able to tell your SKX from a fake SKX being made by these guy's. |

SKX007 replacements? I don’t think so👎 100m water resistant No ISO rating No screw in Crown No Bezel Pip Open back case It’s just another Cheap Looking Seiko Diver (is it even a Divers Watch?) And none of them will be on my watch list to own.🤔 |

Sorry @EDGlimited, i don't understand where you are going with this post. Especially since the photo you posted seems more like a Squale case inspired watch, than an SKX. ![]() |

A little more delving into "that" unbranded watch has revealed the following. It is being marketed by a company called OEM & ODM, presumably, they are from the Oriental region. As the looks are similar to the watch posted by m84, a thought occurred. Have the fakers decided to go somewhat legit and obtain "legal" unbranded watches through OEM and ODM methods. If the answer is yes, then it opens up a whole can of worms. India could well follow suit and copy. Apologies to m84 for bombing your thread. If your unsure of what OEM and ODM stands for, the link will help explain it. https://www.varaallied.com.au/blog/oem-vs-odm-products-what-s-the-difference-and-why-does-it-matter |

For what it’s worth, John B was told this at Basel: “One interesting bit of news I heard was that the SKX is now finished, what is there 4/5 SKX models ? and this will be replaced by the new SKX 5 and there will be at least twenty variations of the new SKX, coated, different dials, bezels etc etc and the "5" will be a slanting "5" so modders of the SKX won't have to mod as Seiko will have modded them for us already and I believe the price might come in cheaper than the present SKX” https://www.thewatchsite.com/21-japa...ld-2019-a.html |

rfortson | I agree. I view these as an update to the Seiko 5 line. SKX wasn't part of that line, it was one of their ISO-rated divers. | |

So many 7S36 divers also are non-screw-down including the Sea Urchin and nearly all the dress divers with exhibition backs. The thing is street price on those hovers at it under $200. For these new 4R36 SRPDs the street price of $325+ allows for building in the cost of a threaded crown tube and screw down crown. |

If you need a dive watch with a screw down crown, we'll Seiko has a boat load of options for you. Seiko did the research and know that 99% of the SKX007s sold never go anywhere near a scuba tank. In my opinion It's the right move by Seiko. |
