Mark Q Just hit the button on my x-mas present from Mrs Q. I can't tell you yet, but its Eco Drive Promaster Diver should narrow it down. I've not seen any of you sporting one the forum, so hopefully "I'll be the only one in the Village"

My experience with the retaining wire has been mostly bad with these...I've had one that came off easily by hand and two others that were down right brutal - a screw/wedge bezel remover wouldn't remove it, I had to implement some other "non-traditional" watch repair tools such as a vice and channel locks. On one of mine the wire became wedged between the case and the bezel inside, so no way to see it until I finally forced it off. The wire deformed the inside of the Titanium case. It was just plain ugly.

Anyway, still interested to see how the one above comes apart if you are willing to post more pix.

Thanks!
So far I see a champfer on the crystal retaining ring, So lifting and pressing is obvious. I'm interested in the crystal gasket condition. I'll take pix as I go when the crystal arrives. I just like the Mono case

the_shovel, I have ordered the crystal and gasket so I thought I would have a look. Rotating ring pops off as it is held by a wire ring, Common for Citizen in my experience. I like the wire better than a friction fit The click ring has 3 stops, Unlike the common 2 stops I'll pop the crystal retaining ring when the crystal/gasket arrives Until then...

4-370589K, I think

The previous package still hasn't arrived, & I'm going nuts. But hopefully this one will come without such delays. I bought this lot for the tuning-fork pocket watch, but it also came with what looks like a knockoff of the Marvin tyre watch. Never seen that before!
Pretty much all the pocket electronics of this style I've seen have Arabic numerals. That's what I prefer, but this one sold cheap. Not sure why, unless the stopwatch in the lot acted as some kind of poison. The kanji day wheel is nifty at least.

I've seen one other done that way. I think, although it's just a guess, that some folks prefer to hold the watch up with the chain hanging down, to read it.

And the non-date (0810 movement) "round" pocket Cosmotron in stainless steel with Arabic numerals. I had three with Roman numerals, but succeeded in selling one. Arabic suits me better, although neither design wins points in my book for leaving out index marks.

Midweek Marauder, Marshaling My Money, Manages 3 Mouthwatering Matriculations

A couple of $200 Seikos and an $80 Citizen! OMG! A Citizen!

First off, another (my second) quartz "sweeper", this one is a 1988 Seiko 5S21-6000 Contemporary Basic. The listing said 5S21-8000 which would have been SO cool, but it was a lie.

The "secret" to the 5S21 movement is that is used some liquid filled vessel to "damp" the normal quartz "stepping" second hand to give it a smooth sweeping motion akin to the slightly more expensive Spring Drive models.

I hope it will compliment my previous 5S venture, a 1988 5S21-5A00, another Contemporary Basic.

My second scholarship student is a wonderful 1960 Seiko Skyliner.

The condition looks stunning, no day/date, hand-wind "61" movement, if only the case back had some heavy embossed sea creature!

And this one IS an -8000 model, gosh dang it. it is a 6100-8000 case code.

Lastly, I have tried to be more consistent about searching got Citizen watches, you know, in my spare time!

But it did unearth this unusual vintage Citizen Automatic "skeleton" dial watch.

I was up early this morning, to check on another watch, and threw in an US$80 bid on this one. Checking later, I won!

A little bedraggled, but still handsome. Kinda like this guy!

Okay, that's all I got for today!

Bought this one off a Women Seller on The Bay last week for ....$20.00 USD
and she shipped it for free from Seattle, Washington. Heh, For ...20 Buck can not go wrong right... ?
She said it came with some Rummage Household Things and dishes but she does not sell watch's. She said it has a broken Strap and does not work at all.
It is in great shape looking at it. It has a Small Nick @ 2:00 O'clock.
I cleaned it up and check if I had a Battery and it Fired Up and works great now.

Thanks Stephen, good to know. The movement is quite small, I'll maybe do a photo teardown when I service it. Need to sort a crystal for it first, this one had broken off its base and been glued back on! Still has the crystal compression ring in place though thankfully.

Delos Harriman I wonder if it might be a service caseback. I am definitely not an expert on this, but with the date I guess it has to be a "6001" movement.

The dial code should confirm that. For whatever reason (possibly because this is an export model, but that's pure speculation on my part), you don't seem to have a serial number on the caseback, but it could be inside.

Always wanted to check one of these out. Lousy pic by seller. It is a very gently used Blue Angels edition, and I won it at a good price.

Very nice. I think that the black dial is the hardest to find, and they have been going for big money. I think you did well here. I’ve got the 23j white dial variant.
