Default Seiko crystal size?

Hi SCWFers,

First post here! You guys have a good forum with a lot of nice, smart folks. Yes, Iíve searched for answers, but if Iím missing something, kindly kick me in the butt! Iíll be more than happy to be pointed in the right direction either way!

I have a Seiko with a hardlex crystal that has some scratching after five years of constant wear, and Iíd like to upgrade it to saphire. It seems that you have a SKX007, finding a replacement anything is easy. I canít find any specs for this watch whatsoever, and Iím not confident with my measurements as the crystal is slightly chamfered as it protrudes from the bezel. Also, the thickness is unknown.

Obviously, taking the watch down, THEN ordering stuff is an option, but it would be nice to just order and install.

Hereís the watch specs:
SMY111, case info 5M63-0AH0

Iíd consider double domed, but would be very happy with a simple flat crystal.

Can somebody point me in the right direction here?

Hi and welcome to the SCWF

The crystal you need for a 5M63-0AH0 is 290P02HN02.

Thats 29mm diameter. You can go for a generic flat or domed from Cousins the thickness is up to you. I would go at least 1.5mm upwards

Again, thanks. So I canít post links yet, but from cousinsuk, youíre looking at DS100CMH290 domed, or CT083 from crystaltimes .net?

Looks like this is compatible with some Seiko 5 crystals if the second is a correct fit.

I noticed a Seiko 290P02HN03 on Cousins, but I don't know for sure what the 03 dictates as opposed to the 02. It might just be serial number....I'd be tempted to buy one and compare and report back if possible. But a generic alternative like melt says will be cheaper and probably just as good.

Ok if you wanna get sapphire domed that should work, but please double check your existing crystal is approx 29mm with a ruler! I have to say DS100CMH290 @ 1mm thick is a little thin. I'd go for the meaty CT083.

Good info. I wasn’t sure I was reading the cousins correctly with the 1mm thickness, but 2.28 is better. Also, I don’t see that the cousins is a double dome.

With digital calipers, the crystal sure looks like a 29mm, but some confirmation of that feels very good. At this point, I’m just wondering if the 1mm cousins crystal would be recessed below the bezel, or if the 2.28mm crystaltimes is going to protrude excessively.

Posting back here to confirm (fine yes, maybe also to show off just a little too).

Yes, the correct measurements are 29mm diameter, 1.3mm thickness, if youíre working with a flat crystal. I bought a flat sapphire from someplace calling themselves aJuiceT in those dimensions for my beater SMY111. I have a CT083 on order from Crystaltimes that should arrive this week sometime. Will show that off too when itís in.

Anyway, there is.
One thing I just canít seem to dig up is what the hand size is for this 5M63 mechanism. Any leads there?
