Default How to Mod an SXK007/009 - Part 1

Have copied this from one of my posts on another forum I use (TZUK) as thought it might be useful to some fellow tinkerers here?
Recently picked up an SKX007 and SKX009 with the intention to mod them in to a sort of milsub and a holiday watch.
I have modded a 007 previously so had the necessary tools to open the back, remove the hands and dial and reset them. I still need a glass press to allow the swapping of the chapter rings on both watches.
Got the bits from 10watches. HK based but came reasonably quickly considering.
Anyway, a few pics of the progress (I had already swapped the dial but forgot to take pics ops: )
First, pop off the bezel

Then remove the insert (this one was glued in and took a bit of persuading  )

Then pop in the new one

As I don’t have a glass press just now I just popped it back on (tight fit! )

Now for the hands. First remove the back. I use a three pronged job for these as they are usually pretty tight

Remove the stem by pressing the release lever with a cocktail stick or similar

Then carefully take out the movement

Get the hands ready

Fit the hour and minute hands. I used a hand fitting tool for these

Then check the alignment to see if they pass each other without catching. Also, check if the hour hits the indice when the minute hand passes the hour.
If not, remove and reset. Protect the dial! (cut out from some thin plastic sheet)

Then fit the seconds hand. I bent the first one so I used a piece of tape to assist and pressed home with the end of a propelling pencil. This has probab;y marked the top of the steel hand but should be ok. Use wood or plastic if this is a worry for you.

Date begins to changes at quarter to the hour, close enough for me

Remove the stem so it can be placed back in the case. This is fiddly as the hands are now fitted so be careful you don't catch any on your fingertips

A good job done me thinks

Obviously, the chapter ring needs replacing and I have a polished aluminium number for this one. Should look the berries! 8)

Great tutorial!! Too bad you didnt show all steps( dial changing and hands removal).
I am a newbie when it comes to modding, however i am gathering the tools and knowledge necessary to begin my first attempt.
My question is: how do you stop/reset the movement to release/fit the hands??
Thanks.
