Default 6105-ish creation...

I wanted to show a longtime project made several years ago...Having always wanted a 6105 diver to actually use in the water and realizing how foolish that was to "assume" water tight seals, I felt a similar Franken would be safer...I had acquired a very trashed 6105 full case but had no movement...also the dial was in quite good shape but my only available spare movement was a 6106...so the date window not matching that movement was an issue...solved that by making a faux indice covering the open dial hole with adhesive vinyl pieces in silver and white...the case tube was gone and I again just put in an aftermarket Triplock case tube and crown...sealed that with JB Weld epoxy for water"proofing"...
I make no apologies for any of my seemingly heavy handed work here since the idea was to be able to use a "treasured" dive watch with no fear of damage to it...!!
Still wear this while swimming and occasionally in hot tubs...the aftermarket hands were the most expensive part of the whole project...!

I applaud your outside the box thinking and ingenuity in making something work with parts you had on hand. I know the purest out there may not like what you have done but if it makes you happy and functions as designed, more power to you.

I second that for sure. The fun of MODDING in this hobby has a lot more to do with watch modifications other than simply changing out the dial, crystal, bezel and hands. That sweetheart would be a beauty with a fresh crystal, that one is lookin' a bit tired. Great project !

Sometimes we forget what the purpose of a watch is. And in the case of a diver, it has a very specific purpose. Good for you in assembling this watch for a specific purpose. May it endure and serve you well.
