Default 7548 service recommendations?

I have a buddy that has a vintage 1978 7548 that he bought in Japan. He said that when the battery was replaced it did not start back up.

We were just now talking about it at work today. I told him I had a local guy on trusted to inspect it, but I'm pretty sure he won't be able to sub in a 7546 movement.

Could I get some recommendations on who he might send the watch and donor movement (if needed) for the work?

Mitch

If it was working before the battery died hopefully when whoever changed the battery they dident nick/damage the coil.

That was my thinking aswell. Shouldn't need a donor 7546 tho it'll just need checking over. New coil from a 7546 will work if indeed this is the issue.

Thanks for the replies. We are in rural middle TN. Not lots of close options for local watch makers. Who can he send it to for inspection?

Howdy neighbor, middle TN also.

I've seen GuyJ do amazing work consistently- well worth shipping to the UK if he's accepting any work. I'd send him a PM and check.

A man of your calibre, Jerry, can get a 7548 running with his eyes closed
