Default Project Restoration/Build - 1970 Seiko 6139-6010 Proof/Proof Chronograph

I just finished up an overhaul and restoration on this beautiful 70 Seiko 6139-6010 Proof/Proof for a fellow SCWF member. This piece sports its original 2 part sweep hand. H/M hands were re-lumed per the member's request. The first 3 photos are the watch in its original state prior to restoration. Cool piece.

Beautiful work as usual

I just got a similar 6012 yesterday.

It was pretty yuk

Removed the expanding link bracelet, movement out, found the missing small chrono hand, refitted and tested chrono (fine), case apart - buffed and cleaned (need to sand / buff properly), cleaned out pushers (stuck) / crown, straightened crown, found / fitted back seal, ordered glass / AM bracelet (sophon ebay), put back in case, some silicon on the pusher seals to test (ok now) and new springbars.

57 minutes later.

I bagged it and left it aside for when I have time / feel like o/hauling the movement and when the glass/bracelet arrive.

Paul - You gave it a tune up. Nothing wrong with that until you are ready to overhaul it.

Mitchell - Yes, it is the same 6139A Proof/Proof you sent me. Your watch should come out equally as good. The Proof/Proofs are pretty rare so I thought folks might like to see one all done up.

Looks good! I was just curious. I know how much work you put into these.

This one was no cake walk either. The entry stone on the pallet fork was slightly chipped so I had to replace the pallet fork.

I picked up a beautiful blue 6139-6019 a while back that may just need a crystal and service. I am so excited to see what it holds. Beautiful work on yours and thanks for sharing.

I usually make them look great on the outside, list and when sold work like a mad man to do the o/h, time up and test!!

I should have a 6139 (and other models) movement that I've done and ready to go into any of my listed chronos.

I like this watch so much I had to post one more glamour shot ... it looks terrific and seems to be running very accurately after several days.

Great work, John!

This is the companion piece to the one I posted above ... a 6139-6019 from August 1969. It'll need a complete overhaul, but the dial looks good and that's either the original crystal or a correct domed replacement.
