Default This guy should get an award :)

He really should get some sort of appreciation award from Seiko collectors as these case tube replacement kits he sells are A1 and cheap, i've just repair/replaced the tubes in these three for a friend in what otherwise would of been scrap cases but now they will live on.

Very nice! But who is the "he" you're referring to?

How are the tubes held in place? Do you need a press to insert them into the case?

I would think maybe the tube gets cooled down and the case heated. Then once the tube is inserted the case is left to cool and contract. So friction fit?

After drilling/reaming the old ones out I press them in and use Loctite 638, it would be nice to laser weld them but I havent got that sort of kit.

Good work Tiger

I bought 2 or 3 crowns/tubes from an Indian ebay seller on the recommendation of a customer of mine who does up Seiko divers and found them good

They're certainly good quality though I've not fitted any yet.

Just looked on eBay John and 'vintagewatches4u.s' hasn't got anything listed, appears not to have sold much in the last month, but has managed to get 40 negative feedbacks in the last 6 months...

Yes I looked John, he was always good when I bought from him, I wish I had bought a stack of them.

Wish I had seen the listings as well, I have a couple of 7002 -7000 cases that need new crown tubes, assume he had those as well as the 6309 ones?

I believe he did but I never bought any, the quality and price where really exceptional, imo they where worth at least double what he was charging.

Crown isn't the best in the house. Go for an original if you can . I saved an Ashtray titanium with this tube. John (TigerUk) helped me out removing the old titanium tube. Worked out great.

Hopefully someone else will fill the void. Last week I ordered a few new tubes off eBay from the site linked above ... I have a couple 6309 cases with trashed tubes, so this will be a big deal if they pan out.

I bought a tube set from him but tucked it away for a guy with the skills and tools to do the job some day if I need it.
