Question 7016-50XX Monaco

I'm back on, an on and off again 7016-5000 Monaco project. This has been is the works for several years and started out with the purchase of a nos dial. Then other nos parts were gathered: gaskets, crystal, hands, and a crown, along with a parts watch and Jon was a gentleman and sent me an additional parts movement. Now this has turned into 2 7016-50xx projects.......... Don't you like how this hobby works?

Now I'm down to the wire with one of the projects and according to the Seiko Casing guide it calls for a #354031 stem. No problem, the parts guides are usually spot on. Humm, according the the Seiko parts tech sheets there are three different stems:

1. #354020 Long stem for square type case.
2. #354022 Short stem for square type case.
3. #354031 For all watches "other then" the square type case.

This brings me to my question: Does anyone actually know which stem is correct for the 7016-5000 case?

I'm also needing a #884022 dial spacer if anyone has one they'd consider parting with.......

My 1979 Casing Guide calls out the 354031 stem with 40M09NS1 ( I would guess 40M09NA1 if in gold color) crown.

I found the 884022 locally, but it’s pricey.

Thanks Jon!

That's what all my casing guides call for also. It's funny their tech sheet contradicts their casing guides.

Thumbs up

So, I'm happy to report that the correct stem with the best fit on this 7016-5000 or 5011 is the #354031 The bulkier shoulder gives the stem more support where it enters the movement............. I'll do a follow up on this restoration in another thread.

Here's a Sneak Peek.............

Fantastic watch and great work. Happy you are finally wrapping this project up after so many years effort. Hope you enjoy putting this timepiece on wrist when you are done.

Phew, that case and dial are both beautiful. Much much cleaner than the one I'm working on at the moment.
