Default day/date wheel

I purchased a gen 1 seiko monster that I would like to swap to a NH36 movement for hacking and hand wind. I took it to a local repair shop to have them do the swap because I dont know how to remove and install the day/date wheels and I want to stay with the original white on black. They returned it to me and said the wheels from the 7S26 wont line up correctly on the NH36 is that correct? BTW the same shop wanted $250 to clean the 7S26.

Find another shop. $250 is way too much for a 7s26 overhaul.

Im pretty sure that the day date wheels from the 7s26 will swap into the NH36.
You will however have problems with the crown/stem.
The 7S stem will not work in the NH36, so you need to source a crown that will fit the Monster and which will also accept a stem for the NH36.
The original gen 1 monster crown and stem is one piece, I.E the stem cannot be separated from the crown.
There is a work around, but i cant think what it is off the top of my head.

Agreed.

The swap is too involved re disc and stem

$250 is too much - I'd charge $180. Find someone who'll do a good job on the original movement for less than the $250

I know about the stem issue and I know the NH36 will swap with 7S26. Only issue I have is the NH36 comes with white day date wheel and the monsters come with black. I also have an SKX009 that i put an NH36 in along with a PADI dial. It looks great but the day is just a tad out of alignment. It seems that the print alignement on the day wheel is a little different on the 7S than the NH36. I have another SKX007 build I did that has an NH36 but the dial doesnt show the day only the date and everything aligns perfect. Ill watch the link provided to see if it has new infop for me.

But.... When I go to shop for day wheels all the ones I find say they will work on 7S26, 7S36, NH26, NH36, and 4R36. So can anyone explain this? If they say the same wheel works in all the movements then what is the real cause of this alignment problem?

Most informative video but how does he do all that in those kitchen gloves and he has great confidence, while waving the case about, in the movement staying put without a stem or case back fitted.

Some movements are made for a 3 O'clock position and some for a 4 O'clock position, the difference between the 2 is the day wheel.
So if you use a Movement thats built to fit a 3'Oclock crown case in a 4 o'clock crown case the day wheel will be slightly off. Swapping over the day date wheels from the monster to the new NH should solve the problem.
