Default Need Service Sheets - Seiko 7017-6010 Speedtimer

Well, this is officially my second post. As I stated in my first post, I am new to this forum but have been over on WUS and TZ for years. Just recently stared restoring vintage Seiko after collecting for many years. I am an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast and have wrenched on those for years. Watchmaking has always fascinated me and I started a few years back with some basic case and bracelet refinishing, hand relume, and time regulation. After doing a bunch of research and acquiring the right tools and with some encouragement from my local watchmaker, I finally took the plunge into servicing a movement, 73 Seiko 6106. Rebuilt that movement 3 times with help from others on WUS before I was happy with it. My most recent project was a 6319 and I was very pleased with the results.

This appears to be the place to be for Seiko and Citizen. My current project watch will be a 7017-6010 Speedtimer. I know this is a big undertaking but I am going to go slow and take my time. I did a search for the service manual in the archives here but could only find the parts sheet. I did find a thread with a bunch of great pictures and notes. Can anyone provide me with or point me to a source for the service sheets on a 7017-6010. I would be eternally grateful.

Welcome to the forums. I can't help with the service sheets but there is a small following of 7017 fans here. Sweet watches and movements - looking forward to seeing yours!

Melt - Thank you. I did find the parts listing for the 7017 here but not the technical service sheets. Still looking.

Default Service sheets

AFAIK There isn't a dedicated 7017 service sheet you have to use the 7016 and adapt/skip over sections for the parts that are not on the 7015/17&18 movements.

In the technical watch guide I have it states that the 7016a calibre oiling guide is applicable to 7006/09/15/17/18/19 and 7039 movements.

It can be a little confusing at times as I've used it for my 7015 and you can get so involved you start looking to oil parts that are not there. Hope that helps

Thanks Lee. Good to know. I actually was looking at the cal 7016A technical guide and found it very useful for oiling points so I downloaded it. Seemed that I could adapt it for 7017 as you said. 7017 should be easier as it has no counter component for the chrono. Thanks again for the advice. Also found there was a troubleshooting guide Addendum for 700Xon there with some very useful adjustment techniques for any issues encountered with the chrono such as hammer strike, etc. Very insightful. John

Dahasco, Thanks you so much. I have these tech sheets but they are in black and white. Great to see the color and lubrication types. Does anybody know the approximate Moebius equivalents for Seiko S6, S4, and S3? I have been utilizing Moebius Syn 9010, 9103, and D5 for most of my builds. I use Moebius 8141 natural oil to oil the mainspring and Moebius 8217 natural grease as a braking grease for the outside wall of the inner mainspring barrel.
