Default Ray Mears inbound

After a 'silly' listing on ebay(listed as 2 citizen quartz watches spare or repair) looks like I have a Ray Mears inbound (expected Monday via SD)
Says need a capacitor so I managed to order one from Cousins plus the last nylon gasket they had in stock
If it pans out this will be my best purchase of the year at a silly price
Ive done a few monocoques before but at tips would be appreciated

Nice buy there Paul. I've not done one...But if you pry the bezel off with the thinnest blade or plastic, masking the case and using a baggy, does the unit just come away as one with a plastic gasket holding it in place, like some 7A28s or 7546s?

I read on TZ that someone filed down an old credit card.

Nice idea. I have some somewhere! Paul you have to play some Zeppelin and then it will simply free itself.

“When the Levee Breaks” should do the trick.

Yeh I’ve got a few - the bezel comes off with the crystal and chapter ring attached
And the gasket just sits around that
Can’t wait to receive it

Cool watch

I've owned about three of these (not the Ray Mears models). A couple new and one or two used. I didn't work on them but maybe just new straps and on sold them.

I worked on them when I worked for Citizen. There was a Ti model I really liked that was $1350 retail in our catalogue.

Just put paper under the thinknife blade to protect the case when prying the bezel off.

We would air pressure test them when back together.

Thank Bry
New cap, gaskets and strap- good for another 20 years - I think this is an early 99 one
I’ve a BM6400 I took off a mate in a trade that I’m going to fit a new crystal to- nowhere near as cool as the ray though
