Default Crystal replacement

When replacing a mineral crystal with a domed sapphire type, is it a problem if the replacement is significantly thinner than the original? (4.7mm for the original, 1mm for the replacement.

I can only think of an aesthetic problem. Once you presse the thin domed sapphire all the way down, there with be a lot of gasket showing. The edge of the crystal will sit well below the lip of the case

Agreed. The other issue could be the bezel. IF the bezel is a slopped type then the relationship between the case, bezel, and crystal could be off and the watch may look "off" a little.
