Default Joker

This has nothing to do with watches, but just got out of Joker and it was perfection. Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips will be robbed if they don’t win Best Actor and Director.

Also really good movie if you’re into 70s fashion and cars

I am eager to see Joker but I am interested in your opinion regarding the number of recent stories of people leaving the theater because they felt the movie was simply too dark and depressing to enjoy ? I certainly am aware of the fact that the voting membership of the Academy Awards Committee will and often have rewarded these kinds of acting and directing performances with Oscar statues. That being said, how did you feel about its entertainment value for the paying viewer ? Many movie goers have shared that it simply was not terribly enjoyable to watch even though it may be Oscar worthy as a cinematic art form.

Depends on whether you’ve been exposed to this type of story before. If you are a longtime Batman fan or like films such as “A Clockwork Orange” or “The Shining” you will like this movie (as well as “The King of Comedy” which this movie directly pulls ideas from.)

The idea that people can’t enjoy something dark/depressing is an objectively incorrect one - what I think people really mean there is that the movie didn’t line up with their expectations. If you figured it would be a light 1980s period piece with comic book action and humor then yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if you walked out. But the movie always billed itself as an exploration of society and psychology, and if the idea of that sounds interesting then you’d definitely enjoy this movie.

That Batman thing is super important though. If you’ve ever read “The Killing Joke” you will especially love this movie
