Default My mums passed away

Just wanted to drop by and check in
I’ve not been as active as I’ve been before-
3 years ago(ish) mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and we were managing it but a year later it ‘developed ‘ into dementia with Lewy bodies - not uncommon apparently. As some may know my karate broke down just over a year ago and I returned home to my parents (that’s the Calibre of folks they are) while we sorted things out.
Mum has been ‘ok’ up until about 3 weeks ago when she went down hill rapidly- dad and I had been caring for her up until then
NHS took over and to be fare have been fab- hospital bed in the lounge and caters 3 times a day.
Over the last week she deteriorated massively- finally unable to eat or drink- the GP said her body was shutting down and to just make her comfortable.
Friday lunchtime I had the call and peddled like fury home from work
Both my brother and I made it and sat with mum for a good 1/2hr before the inevitable.
She passed peacefully surrounded by her 3 boys.
Taken too soon at 73- RIP Mum
What a terrible illness
Please excuse my sad post- just felt I wanted to share with my ‘extended family’

I am so sorry to hear of your Mum's passing. Thank goodness you were at her side. Grief if such a personal thing. Embrace all the warmth it generates.

Ah mate, thoughts are with you. It was good that you were all there at the end, there’s some small comfort in that. Take care.

I visit a friend with Parkinson’s every week. It's a difficult disease.

My condolences.

Lewie, what a blessing it must have been for your Mom to have the loves and prides of her life surrounding her as she past over. I understand the sadness you must feel as it's never easy to let go of our loved ones. When my Mom passed it was with sadness and joy in our hearts because we knew she was released from a painful body and we knew she was not afraid but excited for the next life. I truly wish you peace and healing for the sadness you feel and remembering the wonderful times you shared. My brother, sister and myself found comfort celebrating our Mom's wonderful life and the joy she brought us all. I am so sorry for your loss and wish you comfort as we have. LLP

My sincere condolences Paul. Its very tough loosing our parents and specially our moms, is there a deeper connection? I’m so sorry. I can only imagine what you must be going through emotionally. As time passes you’ll think more of the memories and the love you shared.
