The famous Rolex GMT with the bezel removed. Just saw on another site a 1675 GMT given to a young soldier by his fiancee before his tour in '65 - he and the GMT would survive 3 tours in 'Nam, the author would happily note

Thanks for the heads up Louis. I did not know that another version is coming out. I still remember when I saw Apocalypse for the first came when it came out in 1979. I saw it in the best theatre in Washington DC - The Avalon. Not even sure if the Avalon is still there.

The Avalon had an absolutely incredible Sound System. Monster sized speakers surrounding the theatre. In the opening sequence when the helicopter flies onto the screen the rhythmic thumping sound of the huey moved from the back to the front of theatre. It felt like you were inside the Helicopter. Amazing Sound in Apocalypse Now!

Default Still Have My Old Original Copies of it.

Aloha Sir
Kyle that was a good Theater to be in. I remember all the great sound
effects it had and they really let it rip.
I still have two of the old copies from when it first came out yet here.
It was a real big movie at the time and everyone liked it and many still
do here to.
One of My Original Issue Ones. It's just another of my many Souvenirs
That I kept with my Military things.

I just watched Apocalypse Now Final Cut. I have not seen the movie in a long time - last viewing was Redux. IMO Final Cut is just perfect. Compared to the original the surfboard scene, playmates, and french plantation scenes from the overly long Redux version were added but carefully edited. I found the sound, editing, quality, and especially the color was outstanding with many new photo montages/image overlays of scenes that just looked fantastic and helped the flow of the movie. The night scenes at the Kurtz compound looked much better with better detail and contrast. IMO Final Cut also felt more surreal this time around. Classic!

When I first saw Apocalypse Now in 1979 at the ending of the movie Willard called in the Air Strike and the Kurtz compound was bombed and destroyed while the final credits rolled. Missing in Final Cut.

Saw this at the movies probably a dozen times. Always sat to the very end to see the explosions and the surreal soundtrack. Not digging the fade to black ending.
Had the opportunity to view the final cut at the Tribeca Film festival, along with Q&A with Francis Ford Coppola and a quick appearance by Robert Duval, who stepped up to the mike and yelled "Charlie don't surf!"
Classic.

I'm very jealous Here is a short video with Francis Ford Coppola explaining the final credit sequence and Destruction of the Kurtz Compound.
