Default RIP Bailey :( :(

I lost my boy Bailey this morning while taking him for his early walk he saw another dog over the other side of the Road, pulled on his lead and for some unexplained reason the spring clip came away from his harness and he got ran over.

To say i'm heart broken is a understatement as since I retired he has been my constant companion 18 hours a day.

RIP Bailey

I know what it's like.

When a canine companion dies, some people are dismissive of our grief. But it can feel as prfound as the loss of a wife or child.

I'm going to hold my Pepe a little closer.

Please take good care of yourself.

A tribute to man's best friend:

"Gentlemen of the jury, the best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter whom he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us-those whom we trust with our happiness and good name-may become traitors in their faith. The money that a man has he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the 1st to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads. The one absolute, unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world-the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous-is his dog."
"Gentlemen of the jury, a man's dog stands by him in prosperity and poverty, in health and sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow, and the snow drives fiercely, If only he can be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun In its journey through the heavens."
"If fortune drives the master forth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace, and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death." -- George Graham Vest, 1830-1904 (from an address to a jury in the "Old Drum" case.)

RIP, Bailey.

That's horrible Considering I like dogs more than most people I'd be devastated if that happened to mine, especially to see it happen. Just can't imagine......

I’m so sorry John. I pray that God comforts you at this time of loss. I nearly lost my dog the same way shortly after we rescued her several years ago. It is tragic when we lose our canine family members.

A deeply saddening tragedy indeed...but I believe, John, that another blessing will surely come your way as a replacement for this loss!

This has actually rattled me more than I thought.
We bought a new lead a couple of months ago which came with a safety strap that loops around the dogs neck. We threw it in the dog cupboard and never used it wondering why you would need it.
I'm looking it out tonight and attaching it to the lead.
All the best John.

Deepest sympathies John... I know how much he meant to you.

Our dogs comfort us all the days of our lives and all the days of theirs.

I hope you can move past this and think on getting another.

Best, as always,

Mike
