I've had that one a few times Neil, they do try and by all accounts they succeed in taking millions each year in one way or another.

That scam is older than the hills. Surprised it still works, if it does.

they are looking for those few people who are not tech savvy and who fall for such trickery. Shamefully, some of the older folks caught in the technology web become the victims. :-(

Yesterday I received a robo-call that informed me that my Social Security number was about to be revoked. That's as as far as it got before I hung up.

I regret that I didn't play along a little longer just to see how the scam was constructed. I assume that I would have had the chance to speak to someone from a central Asian country who would need to "verify" my name, birthday, and ssn.

I never answer any phone call from anyone other than whom I know.

As for texts... total fuck chops! Just more unnecessary noise. Email is what I like. Is that a sad state of affairs?

If any one wants to play the wind up the scammer game here's a couple of tips
1) work out a plan
2) have a prepared script - leave it by your phone / computer
3)don't get emotional or play the tough guy ( they have your number & probably more )
4) if it all back fires it can be costly & damaging

I'm waiting for the scam that tells me they're going to take away my birthday - now that is one I'll go for hook, line and sinker. No more aging!
