If it feels good, just do it?

OK, just throwing it out there . . .

Have been watching it a while and finally pulled the trigger tonight because I "finessed" an amazing discount on the purchase after bartering with Customer Service:

Purchased the Timex Georgio Galli S1 Automatic with MIYOTA 9039 automatic movement.

Why?
Who knows.
Saw the Marlin hand wind reissue and went "Ooo"
Saw the Marlin automatic and went "Hmmmm"
Saw the Galli S1 variant with Miyota Auto movement and have been smitten.

Opinions?

I am of 2 minds on this.

First mind, if I see a watch I like -- I appreciate it -- I might look around at similars (as you did with the other Timexes) -- and then I toy with the mental picture of having it -- and then I close all the ebay tabs and move on with my day. If I don't think about it again, it probably wasn't that meaningful to me. I might have liked it, but it didn't call to my soul. I have to press myself to let it go.

Second mind, if I've done the first thing, and then, weeks or months later, I come across the similars (or the object of enchantment) and end up with a much clearer mental picture of having it, and I am pleased by it, then I count that as actual attraction. If I press myself to let it go, and I can't accomplish it, then I know it's going to feel right, and I can be confident in getting it.

In each case I take a conscious effort to ignore the enchantment. So I allow myself to become enchanted and I also allow myself to fall out-of-love so that I KNOW it'll feel good as a purchase.

My $.02.

Thanks Willie_B,
I am excited to be getting it.
I agree, a little pricey, but I was offered a discount when I left it in my eCommerce cart and abandoned on the original decision.
When the discount code failed to work, I had a really tough time with customer support, and they rewarded me with an even better discount.
So, it may have a happy ending.

I have my eye on a vintage Timex Marlin hand wind and would like to get an original Indiglo like the one I used to wear.

Next on my list is to restore my Citizen watch (once I find it!) and maybe find a "friend" to go into the box next to my Pop's Seiko Auto.

When I joined this group, someone mentioned it was a slippery slope.
Well...
Here I go!

Hey Randy!
Thanks for that response.
You framed the conundrum incredibly well.
And, I actually ended up walking through almost the same process.
I knew after having restoring and wearing my Father's Seiko Automatic that I was going to buy myself a new watch as well.
So I was casually shopping and was attracted to the Timex range.
But I became smitten by the S1. Italian design based on the classic Marlin and using a Japanese auto movement? Hits a lot of buttons for me.

Anyway, I did wait and I looked around quite a bit and nothing else strikes me like the S1 right now (except for a bunch of classic vintage pieces with too many more decimal places....lol)
