Cool Show us your old valjoux Chronographs

Really getting into the look of the old valjoux Chronograph movements, want to get an old one to strip & service it.

Be interested to see what some of you guys have?

There seems to be a lot for sale in Europe, Italy etc. Even seen a NOS 7734 watch head. Seems to have been a very common movement and no doubt was cheap in all it's lesser known brands.

Default Show us your old valjoux Chronographs

How about this one Uncleluck. Valjoux 7733 inside. I've only found photos of three watches in this dial/case configuration and three more in a slim case. No idea who actually assembled it. Several examples have had alternative brands like Telstar on the dial.

The interesting thing about this one is the case design. An inner case made out of coated base metal with an outer case made of stainless steel. The EPSA patent says the idea was that the inner case can be more easily made out of base metal, while the simpler outer case can be machined from steel. There is an Omega chrono that used the idea, and a couple of Aquastars.

Tradition by Sears using a V7750 17 jewel variant.

Pogue case with larger pusher tubes.

Tritto, Really like the dial colors on that Yachting Chrono. Case design reminds me of the assembled case of the Seiko 7016 Monaco with its SS outer shell. That Lume looks tasty, too.

Grammar, that deep blue Tradition dial is really radiant in the sun. dynamite.

Attached is my Wittnauer chrono calendar with the Valjoux 72C. Red minute and hour hands, with blue steel chrono seconds and date indicator on a creamy dial.

I think I only have this Carronade bullhead with Valjoux movement

As can be seen, It needs to go in for repairs! The crystal is cracked, Also, One of the pushers has broken and there's a screw missing from the movement! No idea where it's gone (May have fallen out when I opened the watch to see why the stopwatch had stopped working!)..

Cool bullhead John. That'll look a million bucks with a new crystal.

Thanks, years of spotting deals and restoring. I love the parts hunting and restoration aspect. These were all basket cases of some type or another.

You should see my lemania/omega chronographs all restored!

Maybe another thread.

Hello Don,

Yes that is special. Circa 1940 the movement was missing the seconds indicator spring and gear. Also missing engagement spring for chronograph. The dial was redone with a potatoes! Balance pivot broken.

The case has been polished correctly, the bezel cleaned up with the internal red indicator repainted. The knurled bezel turns and can be used as an aid memoire.

The dial is redone using an original Benrus die specifically fro this case design. Hands and parts have been sourced including a new balance staff.

Benrus was the supplier of chronographs to PanAm, and a few other major airlines and was know in the 40s as the supplier of the airlines.

Very nice Geoff! I'm always on the look out for a Chronograph project. I'm watching various cases and movements and tryout my team get a project on the go.

There's quite a few NOS bits and pieces about.

Well I managed to buy a well priced 7734 a couple of weeks ago with a nice novelty second hand that frames the date window as it passes.

Only trouble is I haven't received it! My eBay luck continues and even the tracking number I've been given is 'wrong'

In the mean time I'll just have to keep looking at pics ha!

Don't wait to open a resolve with eBay even if you are talking politely to the seller. Get eBay involved.
